You are invited to take a step back in history. . . to a time when "David Copperfield" was a character in a book by Charles Dickens; when the latest technology was Mr. Singer's sewing machine; and the United States was being torn apart by a war between the federal government and the southern states. This is the era of "Professor Barclay, The Wizard of Edinburgh!"
"Professor Barclay, The Wizard of Edinburgh!" is a show like no other. Magician Richard Green performs the magic of the 19th Century with all the panache of the penultimate Victorian conjurer! He causes eggs to vanish and appear at will; a deck of playing cards obeys his every command; gold coins multiply in his hands; and to cap it all off, he'll perform the oldest trick in magic!
Richard Green is not only a magician. . . he is also a historian. Years of research in both 19th Century conjuring and Civil War history have given him everything needed to recreate a performance that will take audiences back in time to the 1860's. From the period-correct clothing to the authentically styled props and staging . . . all have been painstakingly reproduced to bring audiences an accurate representation of the magic from some of the most famous magicians of the period: Johann Nepomuk Hofzinser; Robert-Houdin, the Father of Modern Magic; John Wyman; and John Henry Anderson, "The Great Wizard of the North!". Past performances have included the Historic Carnton Plantation's annual 'Haunted Halloween' (five years running!), the 2004 Battle of Franklin, TN reenactment, the Magic Cabaret shows in Nashville, and various private functions and engagements.
Welcome to the magic of "Professor Barclay, The Wizard of Edinburgh!"
